What to Expect

We understand that visiting a church for the first time can be a daunting experience. Below you’ll find some information that will help you know what to expect when you visit. Faith Baptist Church is made up of people from all different backgrounds and walks of life. We welcome all to come and learn from God’s Word with us.
SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP – 10:30AM
Our morning services are held in our auditorium. You are welcome to come a little early as coffee is available for you in the fellowship hall. Our services typically consist of congregational singing, prayer, Scripture reading, and a sermon from God’s Word from one of our pastors. We do take a free-will offering, but please do not feel obligated to give. The offering goes to the furtherance of our ministry – i.e. discipleship materials, building and grounds, staff, missionaries, etc.
WHAT BIBLE TRANSLATION DO YOU USE?
Our pastors teach and preach from the English Standard Version, but we invite you to use the translation that you’re comfortable with. However, we do encourage you to use a translation that accurately represents the original languages rather than one that attempts to paraphrase ideas or concepts. Our church rejects the Apocrypha as part of the canon of Scripture and regards only the 66 books as contained in the Authorized Version as inspired by God.

Don’t have a Bible? Let us know and we’d love to give you a copy of your own.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
God’s people ought to be marked by love, truthfulness, worship, and reverence for God – those things are matters of the heart not dress code. You will generally see our pastors, ushers, and teachers dressed in business casual because we want to demonstrate that we take serving the Lord seriously. But we are not concerned so much about dress code as we are about matters of the heart. On a Sunday morning at our church you will see some wearing dresses or suits and ties and some wearing jeans and their favorite flannel – and everything in between! Our Sunday evening and Wednesday evening services are generally more casual.
WHAT STYLE OF MUSIC DO YOU SING?
The following is an excerpt from our FBC Music Distinctives
“As a church we recognize the biblical command both to ‘hold fast to what is good’ (1 Thessalonians 5:21) and to ‘sing to the LORD a new song’ (Psalm 96:1). We recognize the richness, beauty, and congregational sing-ability of many of the traditional hymns. We also recognize the same qualities in many modern hymns and contemporary worship songs. We make it our aim to sing songs that are both in keeping with our FBC distinctives and that are sufficiently intelligible to our community. However, we strive to resist calibrating the music of the church solely in attempt to draw a crowd or fit a vogue…

We sing to the Lord for the purpose of magnifying His glory, but we also sing with the secondary purpose of edifying one another. In light of the reality of various musical backgrounds and interest dispersed across multiple generations, we aim to “keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:3). A healthy church does not gather as individuals seeking to be entertained by their preferred music style, but as Christ’s body seeking to build one another up and give “preference to one another” (Romans 12:10).”

We project lyrics on large screens at the front of the auditorium, and our assistant pastor generally leads the singing from the piano at the front of the auditorium.
IS THE CHURCH WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?
Yes, the auditorium and adult classrooms are wheelchair accessible from the main parking lot at the front of the building. We do not have an elevator to our lower level where our teens and children classes meet on Wednesday evening. However, the lower level can be accessed by parking in the lower gravel lot behind the church under the big letters that read FAITH BAPTIST.
